Glass Filtration Media

Save Money - Save Water - Save Energy - Save Time

….and it's good for the planet, too!

Filter glass is finely crushed recycled glass for pool, industrial, and environmental filtration that provides outstanding water clarity and quality. A direct replacement for sand or other filtration medias in both freshwater and saltwater pools.

Superior Cleaning:

  • Increased water clarity due to a 25% reduction in turbidity
  • Filters smaller particles down to about 5 microns
  • Negative surface charge attracts positively charged iron and manganese, which is easily released upon back flushing
  • Glass is amorphous (non-crystalline) in nature, meaning the particles have smooth sides and are less likely to support algae and fungal growth
  • Compatible with chemical pre-treatment
  • Reports have shown up to 70% of bacteria removed

Lower Operating Costs:

  • Longer times between backwashing - while still capturing finer particles
  • Shorter backwash cycle - the filter glass bed "liquifies" more easily during backwash, and releases particles more easily due to smoother surfaces
  • Lasts longer without fouling and clogging - change media less often
  • Low attrition of particles in fines, due to smooth surface, which prevents channeling and blockage; this lengthens the intervals between media changes
  • Requires about 20% less media (by weight)
  • Compatible with salt water chlorination

Safer To Use:

  • No crystalline silica, resulting in better lung protection and a far healthier environment; silica is a TYPE 1 known aspirant carcinogen
  • 100% environmentally sustainable

Sustainable:

  • Made of pure 100% recycled, crushed, graded, polished glass
  • Most glass disposed of can not be used to make new glass, because it is of clear, green and brown colors. Bottle makers want clear or color specific glass
  • Filter glass is made of a material that would otherwise be thrown into landfills or have very limited other uses.

Using Filter glass results not only in outstanding performance, but also in real cost benefits over the life of a filter bed.

Filter glass cleans better, saves money, saves energy and is better for the environment.
