What's in a name?
In competitive swimming Lane 4 can be a swimmers best friend. It is the lane they are rewarded with competing in if they post the best qualifying times.
From that lane, they can see the whole pool, get all the facts, see all their competitors and know for sure there best strategy for the race.
Also, from Lane 4, they get to swim in the lead - and enjoy the calmest water - avoiding the waste of time and energy navigating the swirling waters bouncing off the pool walls, and the turbulence that others have left behind.
