Sand Filter Services

Noticing a loss in water clarity, more trouble with algae, or cloudy pool water? Needing to backwash more frequently? Your filter media may be to blame. If you are noticing sand in you pool water it may be time for a complete filter overhaul to replace any broken laterals inside you filter.

Over time, your pool filter sand will deteriorate. Filter sand loses its sharp edges, and the sand grains become rounded. Filter sand also can trap grease and oils deep in the sand bed, which will not always backwash out of the filter. In hard water parts of the country, with very high Calcium Hardness levels, filter sand can calcify, or become hard like sand stone.

Another good reason for replacing your filter media is when your media becomes “tired”, you will need to run the pump longer and use more sanitizer to maintain water clarity. Not to mention the expensive-to-correct water problems that may result. It is costing you more money than you think to have poor pool filtration.

    We offer 2 levels of filter preventative maintenance:

    Filter media change

    Sand filter media change service, for sand filters, by replacing the top level of filtration media only, does not disturb the internal working lateral system.

    • Remove multi-port or top access dome.
    • Remove existing filtration sand from filter.
    • Install new sand or glass media to proper level.
    • Lubricate top closure o-ring.
    • Re-assemble top mount multi-port, (if so equipped), or top closure dome, (for side mount multi-ports).
    • Removed filtration media left on-site for local disposal.

    Filter Overhaul

    Complete sand filter overhaul service includes filter media change, (sand or glass and gravel) plus internal component replacement of laterals and internal air bleed components.

    • All of the above, plus - 
    • Remove and replace laterals.
    • Remove and replace existing internal air bleed assemblies.
    • Install new gravel (if required), and sand or glass media to proper level.
    • Start-up system and test.
